I think this thread has gone off topic, it's making me laugh too much.

I misread the 'a' as an 'i' in fasting.... suffice to say it caused some concern...

No, no, & no - not necessarily in that order....

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 7
Previous letting agents are being obstructive in returning my deposit on the flat of around £700 in full and within the time-frames they subscribe to through the deposit scheme and ARLA.
It's a lot of money that right now we could really do with as I hate having to use the overdraft for anything.

Sounds like something my friend experienced when he moved from a rented Maisonette.
On the day he moved out, he got a few mates round and we scrubbed everything to the point where it was cleaner than it was when he moved on. The letting agent delayed repayment of the deposit. Why? Because apparently, some food had been left in one of the drawers.
Now, there was none. When they sent him a photo of what they had defined as food. It wasn't. It was a lump of paint. My friend had not painted the drawers since he moved in.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates Part 7
My moan is people (users) who attempt to paraphrase error messages on computers with no real understanding of the message.
For instance, I got a user telling me her login details were wrong. I checked her user id, and reset her password to the one we issued (we can't read a user's password if they change it, but we can reset it to the password we issued originally) and she went off. After a few minutes, she came back with the same problem.
So, I went with her, and checked what she was doing.
The error she was getting did not indicate her password was wrong, but was actually "The group policy client failed the log on". An error which, on our systems at work, usually means a corrupt user profile (a profile is where Windows stores user specific settings).
We get this error from time to time, so have an automated fix that we apply from a dedicated website, and it has to be applied remotely.
Admittedly that example only took a few minutes to sort out, but my point is had the user given me the correct message in the first place, it would have taken a few seconds to sort out.
