Doesn't the TiVo upscale SD as well as the V+?

I think that Carl's reference was with regard to HD channels. I may be wrong, however the post would seem apropos saving money by going down to L. I'm on XL so I wouldn't know.

In my opinion, no. The V+ is noticeably better than TiVo at up-scaling.

Didn't have HD when I had the V+ so I wouldn't know

That is correct, Jem.
As I have said before, I'm not that bothered if something isn't in HD but I prefer it if there's a choice

Oh no, I'd better cancel the order for the laptop and by a 3D TV instead!

Actually a while back I did a test with a TiVo and a Samsung V+ connected to the same TV with identical settings on both HDMI inputs and the TiVo (since the 15.2 update fixed the interlacing problem) actually upscales slightly better than the Samsung V+ box.

Channel 4's 4seven catch-up channel to launch on July 4
Channel 4's bold new channel aimed at reinventing catch-up television will launch on all the main UK digital television platforms on July 4, it has been confirmed.
The channel will launch across all major television platforms on July 4, Channel 4 has confirmed. Channel numbers for Virgin Media and Freesat are not yet known, but it is thought that 4seven will launch at channel 47 on Freeview in post-digital switchover areas, and replace More4 +2 on Sky at position 269 on the EPG.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2012) Vol. 2.
As programme schedules are "locked in" two weeks before broadcast, how the heck are they going to be be able to produce such schedules for this channel? You're simply not going to know if the programme you want will be made available on it. Nice idea, but not really workable, in my opinion.

Surely broadcasters can put out what they like when they like?
If so, its, in our case Virgins "problem" that they work two weeks ahead.
Perhaps look on line

FWIW my comparison was with my SA V+ box and my TiVo. I've never had the opportunity to compare TiVo with the Samsung box.

Yes but the way it is done, and has been done forever so far, is how I described it.

As I said, that's how broadcasters have always worked.

That won't help my Tivo set itself up correctly, will it
There may be an argument that "the way it's been done" really should change to a more up-to-date way but this simply cannot happen whilst paper-based TV listings magazines are still selling well.

VM could buy all the TV magazines and make thousands of people redundant? Oh no, not really a sensible proposition and/or argument.

That's a bit early. The Olympics don't start until the end of July,
