Not picking specifically at this post but alway love the overal attitude
TiVo doesn't do something the V boxes do = Why did Virgin release an unfinished box, bunch of amateurs
TiVo has something the V boxes don't do = Why are Virgin excluding their existing customers, bunch of amateurs
:P

Coming from a VM employee I'd expect better , nowhere in alwaysabears post does he suggest the Sky Sports F1 red button shouldn't be on TIVO however it's another orchestrated move to try and force people into taking TIVO in my opinion unless you can advise him when it's to be available on other STB's.

And Sky don't make orchestrated moves to force people on to higher price packages then.

As the F1 Red Button will be coming to the V boxes in July, I personally think it means TiVo was easier for Sky to develop the app so that it performed the way Sky wanted it to, rather than being a specific choice by Sky to force VM customers onto TiVo

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
Here is the full link about the red button.
http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...MER_TYPE=Cable
Quote:
Sky Sports Red Button (interactive) services are available for Virgin TV Sky Sports customers with a V+HD, VHD or V box and are currently being rolled out on TiVo boxes.
The interactive Red Button application is available on the following Sky Sports Channels:
If you have a TiVo box, red button services are available which will allow you to follow a driver, check out what’s going on in the pits, follow the practice sessions and much more.
If you have a V, V HD or V+ HD box we expect to bring red button services to Sky Sports F1 in July 2012.
To access Red Button services just press the red button on your remote when you hear an announcement or if a red button icon appears on your screen (usually in the bottom right hand corner).
You can find a schedule of sporting events that include information on Red Button events (where the information has been made available) that are being shown soon on Virgin TV, just click here to have a look.

What a silly response I'm sure Sky developed the app for the TIVO at the request of VM , ludicrous suggestion

I'm sure it would have been part of the agreement for Virgin to carry the F1 channel, doesn't mean that Sky had zero input into what the app would like, or what content it would display etc. After all it's their logo on it, and it's accessable via their channel

We're on about Sky Sports F1 Red button availability on VM , seeing as you've mentioned Sky I believe it's available on the Sky+ , SkyHD , Sky+HD and 1TB so in other words all their STB's.

Yes l know MM but just pointing out to you that Skys tactics at the end of the day are no different to Virgins in many aspects business wise.

Although that's because all their boxes run the same core OS so are able to cope with the same red button service
To be available on both TiVo and the V boxes at the same time, Sky would have had to write two completely seperate apps

Couldn't agree more but seeing the majority of VM's customer base are still on the liberate software why wasn't that developed first.
