Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
They were thinking that they had paid a lot of money for the rights and would be gaining nothing if they gave the whole product away to their strongest competitor. I doubt they'll lose revenue-they obviously feel the unique selling point of being the only platform where you can watch every race in hd will gain them a few sign ups, and giving the sd version free to Virgin might get them a few more Sky Sports customers on cable as well.

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
Sky have been so amateur so far with their testing coverage on Sky Sports News. Reading so much into who's leading the times.
It's more an annoyance than anything that there's no HD. It wouldn't make me want to switch.

Their "unique selling point" could have been that you can watch F1 in 3D only on Sky (via Sky 3D)!

And the fact that it isn't tells you all you need to know about how much of a selling point that would be.

Of course, this would require the world feed that FOM (I think) sell to all the local regions around the world to be filmed with 3D cameras. I don't think it is yet (HD only having arrived a couple of yrs ago), so Sky could not broadcast a 3D signal that isn't there. They will have to wait for FOM. I suggest you petition Bernie. I hear he's open to ideas that aren't his own Just tell him how much you're willing to cough up for it and I'm sure he'll get straight on it.

Agreed. Especially as not many people have a HD TV.

I'm sure lots of people have a HD TV, whereas only a few have a 3D one
