Tottenham close to landing £9.6m Jan Vertonghen from Ajax.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...ertonghen-ajax
Quote:
Jan Vertonghen is ready to move from Ajax to Tottenham Hotspur having been impressed by the London club's personal touch and how they have made him feel central to their plans.
Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, flew to Amsterdam on Monday for negotiations with the Ajax financial director, Jerome Slop, and the club's commercial director, Henri van der Aat. Spurs have offered €12m (around £9.6m) for Vertonghen, a central defender who has 12 months to run on his contract but Ajax value him at €15m. Levy, though, having wasted little time in moving for the 25-year-old, is confident of finalising an agreement and the player is attracted by the challenge at Tottenham and living in London.

I know who i think should have got twice the ban...
The FA need to look at themselves and the length of bans they hand out imo.

This isn't correct though. 12 games for trying to start a fight? No. It's a totting up of offences like so:
The Red card was his second, so 4 match ban.
Then he would have got another red card for the knee incident: 5 match ban.
So even if they were being very forgiving it would be a 9 match ban. Then he has a prior history, and, yes, tried to start a fight with Kompany.

The current deal had been scheduled to expire at the end of next season but a three-year extension has been signed.
The rights cover the Saturday evening Match of the Day programme, the Sunday morning repeat, MOTD2 on Sunday evenings and other evenings when Premier League fixtures justify a show.
The programmes will be available on the BBC's iPlayer from midnight on Mondays

Re: Football Season 2011/12
In a way I'll be pleased if he gets it - I used to know Martinez quite well a few years ago when I worked at the radio station and he was Swansea's captain. He has a very real charisma and presence about him. In a way I want to wish him well if he gets it....but then again no I don't
