Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
Looks like VM have taken their extreme bufferbloat out of their Superhubs and put it in their core network instead...
... That, or that's some extreme circuitous routing (but the packet loss suggests more saturation).

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
Saturation might be cause by too much traffic being redirected through a particular node.

Yep something has fallen over again, although you wouldn't think that from the telephone 'support'

Got similar here as well, although more of a step than a brick wall.

Yeah as I thought, those levels are fine - looks like a routing issue for sure. That first hop into the core is adding 70ms alone. Yuck.
Interesting to see you're only on 6 D/S channels though! I thought most people were on 8 by now.

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
Been on 6 ever since we got the 60mb upgrade last year, have only had 2 US for last couple of months though and that's not consistent, been having loss of connection a fair amount lately 3 or 4 times a week for a few mins to an hour sometimes I get it back with 1 US sometimes with 2.
Telephone support are still insisting there is nothing wrong with the network and want to arrange an engineer for me waste of time.

Any slower and its going to start going backwards! And they still insist there is nothing wrong with the network

In my case a tiny little step rather than a brick wall. Unusual none-the less.

That's 3 folk displaying a step change around 1.30 pm; Staffs, Shropshire and Coventry. All West Midlands or western Midlands. My speed is unaffected.

@Buldrin At the moment we do have a issue, but unfortunately we don't have a time of fix as yet. If you keep your eye on the service page http://virg.co/service we will update you as soon as we can. MPK

5 minutes ago finally they admit a problem, though they don't say what and nothing on the website as of now

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
Got some more feedback from VM forum :
Quote:
Hi dwarven,
Thanks for coming back to me.
I have done some further digging on this and I've managed to get to the bottom of this. There was a fibre break that caused some customers downstreams to drop off. For some reason this information was posted on to the main fault page so I had to check the networks fault page for it. So my apologies that you didn't get accurate fault info when you called in or even previously from myself for that matter.
The fault is now of course rectified and you should have full downstream lock. How are things from your side now?]
I have also fed this back to our twitter agent.
Thanks for your patience with this and Ill talk to you soon
|
I assume she meant to say wasn't posted on the main faults page

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)
This is mine. Not the prettiest but I have a tech to be arranged as my upstream power levels are too high. Hopefully this may have a positive impact as aside from the ping jitter and spikiness, my connection (100/6) is very fast pretty much all the time.
