Re: The Apple iPad Thread
Microsoft has - rather bizarrely IMO - released a few big apps on iOS recently -
Last week: My Xbox LIVE [iPhone/iPad universal app]
Yesterday: OneNote for iPad [iPad specific version, separate to the iPhone version]
Today: SkyDrive [aimed at the iPhone, but will work on the iPad]
Today: Kinectimals [iPhone/iPad universal app]

Re: The Apple iPad Thread
Some of them now work because they're being embedded into news pages in some container other than Flash. Most of them are still Flash though, and won't work.
It looks to me like they are progressively moving away from Flash. Presumably there's a pattern to what's changed and what hasn't, but I don't know what it is. The new-look weather section still uses Flash for forecast videos, even after they removed Flash from the animated maps, which seems a bit pointless.

Re: The Apple iPad Thread
iPad1 is still a perfectly capable device and you can get a good deal on eBay. Why wait?
Besides, nobody knows when Apple is going to release anything. There are only ever rumours.

Re: The Apple iPad Thread
That said it's likely to be around March. You can get a good idea about the likelihood of a device because of the suppliers. Apple now produce too many iPhones/iPads to hide the shipment of parts...

Only asking as I may palm my IPad 1 off on the Mrs and treat myself to an iPad 3

Yup. All the rumours, tech blogs, "sources in the supply chain", etc. are pointing towards a March 2012 release... which would fit with Apple's usual annual product cycle. I have seen a few "analysts" say it will be in January or February, but it's all just guesswork at the moment. It's certain that one is coming though.
A "Retina display" is the main thing people are expecting, along with the usual spec. bump (quad-core "Apple A6" System-on-a-Chip?).

Re: The Apple iPad Thread
If you had that money now would you go for an iPad2 or wait for the iPad3? I'm reading that the display will be double the resolution - I'd mostly use it for watching movies / tv so i'm thinking of waiting.
