My Samsung has an optional extra that enables it to record.

Is it a flat screen and how many hours of recordings will it support? I am surprised, because I would have thought the hard drive would make the TV too bulky by modern standards.

A lot of these new TV's support plug-in storage. So anything from a memory stick to a standalone hard drive can be used.

Generally will only be able to timeshift what you're watching though - most TVs will only have one Freeview or Freesat tuner to record from.

On my Samsung there is 2 usb ports which you can add external hdd too and the tv can act as a pvr with the external hdds connected.

We had a USB drive on our Samsung for a while - you can record from Freeview or Freesat while watching another input.

LG did release a TV with built in PVR back in 2007
http://www.ppav.co.uk/LCD-Displays/LG-32LT75.html
https://www.cnet.com/uk/products/lg-32lt75/review/
It does look a little bulky, compared to todays standards, but surely technology has progressed since then and a more sleak model would be possible. If recording can be achieved by attaching a hard drive or USB to modern TV's surely it would be easy to have something as equally small built in?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
TruTV isn't getting enough viewers, so it's owners are considering closing it, but are in negotiations with a third party to try and sell it first.
The channel launched in 2014, but only came to VM fairly recently.

Well, it won't be missed in our house. It shows pathetic reality TV programmes that you can find elsewhere anyway - this truly dreadful channel and others like it will never see the light of day in my lounge!

Apparently, TruTV US is all sketch comedy whilst the UK version is still the mixture of crime and docu-reality rubbish that used to define the US channel.
Maybe VM wouldn't pay much or even anything for it, then, following the low viewing figures, the owner relented and it came to VM??
It obviously didn't have much of an impact on the viewing figures!
