I haven't said that.
What I would like to see is a change from the normal practice of assuming the whole of the UK is will be supporting England. Whereas many probably will, a sizeable amount won't care whether they win or lose.

Which is why they get so much covergae.
I hope we get France

My mistake, it's just when you said
Quote:
a month of the newspapers forgetting other national teams exist in the UK
|
I assumed you were talking about the actual countries national teams rather than which ever nation you pick out of a hat/have a distant relative from/ enjoyed a holiday at, to support.

So the majority have their coverage curtailed for the minority that aren't even participating and I seem to remember the Republic of Ireland getting a fair amount of coverage each time they qualified and they aren't even part of the Union.
Besides it could be worse. North Korea are only reporting anything on the World Cup if their team wins....

Again, I haven't said that. The media has always been England-centric anyway and it gets worse at the World Cup. If Wales ever made it to the finals (ha! The FAW have measures in place to ensure that doesn't happen) would we get souvenir editions of The Sun? Special pull-out posters of the boyos in The Mirror? Nope.
As I've said, you don't notice it because you're used to it.

Deja vu. I seem to remember you trot this argument out every time a big football competition comes around. The reason England get all the tabloid inches are as follows: The major newspapers in the UK are based in London, England. England has the biggest population of all the UK home countries & therefore target readship. England has the best football team of all the UK home countries, i.e. consistently qualifying for major championships. England's players are household names, not only in this country, but around the world and whatever you say or think, people do want to read about them. Many people outside Wales, NI or Scotland would struggle to name a single player from any of those teams. Enjoy your summer next year supporting England!

And I remember you trotting out the same argument back - to which I said back then perhaps the newspapers should give us Celts a discount on the cover price or even charge you more - after all you lot earn the most out of the UK nations
Thing is though Wales has a better rugby team yet your national rugby team still gets more coverage so success seems to have little to do with it - enjoy the next few years getting beaten by Wales again

Re: Football World Cup 2010
Group G and D look like they are going to be great, you can see any of the teams from group D getting through.
I don't think England could have hoped for a much better draw than that.
