Hence people being mightily ******ed off at having to pay the licence fee PLUS extra to Sky!!
It's not rocket science.

Semantics aside, remember that free-to-air is just that... completely free, and works whether you have a TV license or not. So technically F1 was free, but is now monetized.

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
What's more infuriating is that the BBC cancelled its agreement early. That was a sly move at best. Brokering a deal on the side with Sky whilst all the time Bernie was rubbing his tiny hands in glee knowing two providers would be sharing the now hiked distribution rights..

And license fees are another issue completely. After all we all have to pay for channels that we may never watch.

Why not Steve Rider as the main presenter, he was great on ITV F1.

Yes there are some very good people on their team with a lot of good knowledge at their disposal.

Yes this announcement seems to have coincided with the upgrade to HD push

...and Georgie Thompson
I fail to see what she brings to the party.
Didn't Brundle look very uncomfortable in the suit and tie on Sky Sports News this morning? He even had the 'Sky Sports' lapel badge
Not the relaxed style we're used to seeing.

I'm sure she's a perfectly nice lass, but I just can't take her seriously.
I always get the impression that she's just an autocue reader or keeps getting stuff fed to her by the production team.
I'd like to be proved wrong, but I can't see her giving us anything spontaneous or insightful that means a great deal to the average F1 nut. I guess that's why they've teamed her up with Ted...she feeds him the questions from the autocue and he dishes out the interesting stuff.

Re: SKY F1 HD Channel, Any Chance?
I hate to say this but on the odd occasion I have watched (whispers) A League of Their Own on Sky 1, she's actually got very good sporting knowledge.
But in general I'm not a fan.
Nathalie Pinkham, on the other hand ...
I find Brundle very annoying.

Hmmmm?

Negotiations for Sky Sports F1 with pay-TV firm Virgin Media are thought to be ongoing, but due to carriage technicalities it is thought unlikely that the channel will come to subscription-free platforms Freeview or Freesat.

Carriage technicalities my ar... rear. Sky's got more money than Jesus, they could buy anyone's slot.
