As Damien says he'd been a Governor for six years before running for president, and had been active in politics before then doing campaigns and speeches, so he had served an apprenticeship of sorts before becoming a presidential candidate.
Donald Trump has done none of these things. He's a businessman (in the loosest sense of the term) with a very high media profile and no other qualifications.

Re: US Election 2016
I listened to portions of the debate. One thing was concerning: Clinton said she would take military action against Assad. This would put the US in direct conflict with Assad's allies the Russians.
Not a wise move IMHO especially as the US tends to have identification issues on the battlefield. One can only imagine the repucussions of killing several hundred Russian troops in Syria.

I can't find the bit where she suggested military action against Assad. She did explicitly rule out ground troops.

I was partly asleep, I thought it was quoted from Clinton but seems to be another reference:
Quote:
Trump made clear that he did not agree with running mate Mike Pence on how to deal with war-torn Syria.
Last week, Pence said that the U.S. military should be ready to strike Syrian military targets that are under the command of President Bashar Assad. The threat of military action against the Russia-backed Assad government marks a departure from Trump's preference for a focus on Islamic State targets.

Re: US Election 2016
Yeah I believe Pence has suggested it but Trump has ruled it out and spoke positively of Russia's role.

Besides we can't keep letting Russia get away with everything. Trump doesn't want to do it because he's Putin's useful idiot, even talking of scaling back/leaving NATO. If there isn't push back against them then how long before they annex more of Eastern Europe which they judge to be theres?

http://nypost.com/2016/10/10/focused...second-debate/
Trump trounces Hillary. Nypost go with that.
He did what was expected though, turned his own story into the Bill Clinton scandal. That was another huge thing to take away. Trump had the alleged victims at the debate and people will take this away as a good move for Trump, he also had a rape victim there in which the alleged attacker was defended by Clinton as seen below.
Kathy Shelton (in blue). A man who raped her when she was 12 was defended by Mrs Clinton when she was a lawyer. An audio tape emerged years later of Mrs Clinton laughing about the case.
When Trump is in self destruct over his ridiculous stance on Women, this doesn't help Clinton.
As above: 'I'd put you in jail'
Those Hillary Clinton emails again.
Mr Trump says he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Mrs Clinton's deletion of 33,000 emails held on a private server when she was secretary of state.
Clinton: "It's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country."
Trump: "Because you'd be in jail."
Another that is leading the news after the debate.
All I can take away is, if there's no dirt to dish out and rant about then he struggles to hold a debate. He's done a lot better in full Trump mode.

I don't think threatening her with jail is going to improve his numbers with anyone other than those who are already voting for him.

Re: US Election 2016
The question is are those core Trump voters enough to win the election for him? I doubt it, as he's managed to insult most of the identified voting blocs, and seems to be relying on those who think that Larry the Cable Guy is an actual person...

Re: US Election 2016
l expect her to win quite comfortably as once people are in the privacy of the voting booths they will go for the safest option and compared to Trump she is that.

That's what the majority thought would happen with Brexit.

If so, he's lost.

Which is why I worry but it's worth mentioning the Brexit polls did suggest a 50-50 tie roughly and the polling in the States is historically more reliable than we have here.

If l had a comparison it would be the UK general election result as generally voters will always go for the least worse option as we saw in the 2015 general election and many others before that.
