Pipe's grey impressed when winning the Feltham Novices' Chase at the Sunbury track nearly 12 months ago and while he performed well at Cheltenham and won at Aintree, it was arguably his best performance of last season.

Richard Johnson has been booked by the Grand National-winning team of Sue and Harvey Smith for Hennessy Gold Cup contender Cloudy Too.

Having been thrust into the spotlight when Auroras Encore landed the famous race in April, the Smiths are now eyeing another of the big jumping prizes. A decent novice last season, Cloudy Too dished out an eight-length beating to the smart Tap Night at Carlisle on his seasonal reappearance, booking his ticket for Newbury in the process.

Harry Herbert has been appointed as racing advisor to leading owner Sheikh Joaan Al Thani's Al Shaqab Racing.

Al Shaqab Racing started in 2011 with Arabian racing, but moved into the mainstream during the recent Flat season with great success.

Al Thani enjoyed Group One victories with Toronado and Olympic Glory and also secured Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe glory as Treve produced a spectacular display at Longchamp in October.

Timmy Murphy is set to make a decision on Saturday morning on whether he takes the ride on leading Hennessy Gold Cup hope Our Father for David Pipe.

Murphy was taken to hospital for X-rays on his shoulder during racing at Newbury on Friday, although the reason for the injury was unclear at the time as he was seen walking away from the weighing room in some apparent pain before being helped into an ambulance.

Capable of rattling off a four-timer during the summer, the 11-2 chance had lost her sequence when second on her reappearance at Wincanton last month, but Conor Shoemark resumed front-running tactics and was never threatened.

Triolo D'Alene gave champion trainer Nicky Henderson a third win in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury with a hard-fought triumph over Rocky Creek.

The six-year-old, winner of last season's Topham Chase at Aintree, gave jockey Barry Geraghty back-to-back victories in the race after the success of the Henderson-trained Bobs Worth 12 months ago.

Rocky Creek fought hard in the closing stages, but it was Triolo D'Alene (20-1) who prevailed by two and three-quarter lengths. Theatre Guide was another length and three-quarters away in third, with Highland Lodge fourth.
