Not really. The Independent wouldn't go with it as a lead unless they had a good source, someone is playing games somewhere.
|
If it was a good source more than one newspaper or website would have heard it. I would be very suprised if theres any truth in the story.

There doesn't have to be truth to the story but the Independent thought it was true, and sourced well enough to make the front page. This isn't the Daily Star we're talking about. So someone high enough to either one of the figures involved would have 'leaked' it to the journalist and the independent. The speculation is that the club is sending a message to Rooney.

Re: Football Season 2011/12
plenty of clubs and players have denied things and then moved a few days later so the denials can be taken with a pinch of salt.
After what Rooney said before he renewed his contract about the lowering of standards and how we have played last season and this I can understand if he wanted to leave

and how he played, maybe the club are questioning his wages and commitment after last season's tiff.

and another weird story, can't be true surely, he was passed it a year ago when he was fit...
Paul Scholes is ready to answer an SOS from Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and come out of retirement.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...er-United.html
Demba Ba, who is heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, has put England's top clubs on red alert after it emerged that he has a £10m release clause in his Newcastle contract.
I allways knew he had one

Re: Football Season 2011/12
I tend to treat most transfer rumours as just that...something to chat about, but not totally believe.
It is easy for any paper to put a story in...football rumnours are hard to disprove..X person is transfer target etc.
Even if it was true...if it didn't happen, clubs might still deny it.
I wait until someone is signed, that generally is when the belief is warranted

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Thw fact we are asking Scholes back shows how poor the squad is at the moment. We need to sign someone new rather than look back.
Would have been nice to get Beckham back for a few games he's still puts in a decent cross and his passion and energy for the game could show Nani and others a thing or two

Yes Man Utd do lack a playmaker in midfield since Scholes has retired and Beckham is past it and has been for a couple of years but remember Cleverly is a talented player but he is still young and prone to injuries so Man Utd do need someone but the question is who and one name springs to mind and that is Modric but any bid is unlikely until the end of the season.
