Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
A nice (well, wonderful, actually) surprise in the early hours of this morning.
After we got home from Midnight Mass last night, my daughter's boyfriend took me and my wife to one side to ask our permission (for him) to propose to my daughter - we said yes, and he proposed to her this morning, so that was her best gift of the day.....
Wedding some time in Summer 2012.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
just a quick Christmas greetings to all of you who have lost someone during the year and having their first Christmas.
Just remember at this time of the year, there's lots of goodwill out there, and I hope you all realise you are remembered and thought of this Christmas.

So you didn't hang him off the highest building by his legs to guarantee her future happiness, or no electrical wires to his you-know-whats hooked up to a lie detector first etc??
Seriously, very nice news, all the best to you and your family.

Lovely old fashioned gesture by asking for your daughter's hand in marriage Hugh. Better start saving now!

Mr T lost his youngest sister and his youngest son this year, they are never far from our thoughts.

Nah - he was bricking himself enough as it was; for some reason, I have a reputation for being very nice, but also (at times) very scary - go figure......

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Best day ever, seeing my niece move and eat by herself made me nearly cry.
Very overwhelmed.

We have to save up for the wedding........
(only joking, Summer 2012 was their timescale - my daughter will have completed her post-grad course and will hopefully have had a year of teaching in real life, and the lad will be about two years into his job so it fits in with those goals).
