Thanks for the links Matt D, it seems like a lot more risk is involved than using Spirit and for what I can see it's best to take Halycon's advice and stay as I am till something like Spirit comes out for OS4, as I can't see any major advantages for the hassle and the risks.

At least at last I now know. Thanks.

(I have a 4g iTouch btw).

I'm looking for two things for my iPhone 4.

Basically, the case I have is looking tatty, and the external battery I keep for emergencies is dying (I think).

So, I'm looking for a case with a battery. Now, the ones that hang off the back of the phone are easy to find. What I am looking for is one that also has a hard flip cover for the screen. Something that doesn't appear to be that common..

Yes I have cut one down with a cutter from ebay clunk click and it did fit

Did anyone else have problems with the iPhone alarm today? Mine just didn't go off which was a little bit annoying

I know there's been issues before but i thought they would have been sorted by now.

yes - one-off alarms are certainly affected (they don't go off). not tried repeat alarms yet.

A £700+ phone and it can't manage to sound a one-off alarm - yeah - Apple iPhones rock don't they!

*Cost + over the lifetime of the phone....

They also had an issue with alarms coming out of BST as well.

I don't think Apple do any testing of their firmware these days.

the problem is, once you've 'invested' (itunes, M4a, blah, blah..) it's hassle to move away. but then, I've heard a lot of negative stuff regarding Android. I guess they all have pros and cons....

The phone is £500 unlocked from Apple. You can't associate network costs or the price of music with the price of the phone. You'd still need to pay for minutes, texts, data, music and videos on any other phone.

I find 02 quite good.

I had my 3G on O2 and found them abysmal in London. I had it out with one of their planning engineers once and he decided that it was 'the tinted windows and steel construction of the building' (where I work) that was the problem between 9 and 5 every day.

Strange how I had almost full 3G signal every night after midnight!

O2 was so broken at Waterloo for about a month that you couldn't make a call, and texts didn't turn up.

Data throughput was an issue across the whole network.

Three have useless customer service, but their network is solid in London.

I'm with O2. TBH, the primary reason I stayed with O2 was that they offered free WiFi access via The Cloud and BT Openzone. Sadly, despite following O2's advice repeatedly, I cannot get OpenZone working. Apparently the problem is that my phone number is still registered to my previous phone. Perhaps that explains why my previous phone also cannot access BT Openzone (I sold it, but still have contact with the buyer).

There coverage is actually quite good both at home and work. There are major deadzones on my journey between home and work, but these affect all radio transmissions (even FM), and while O2 is affected, they aren't affected nearly as much as T Mobile are.

Coverage isn't perfect at work ,but I work in a 200 year old building with 4 foot thick walls. No mobile phone network offers 100% coverage inside our building. Even the access points for the WiFi network we offer have barely a 20 metre range.
