Looks like it, I cannot see the bus driver intentionally driving like a mad person, must be the Automatic gear system or maybe a health issue with the bus driver, could have had a heart attack or something as the bus driver was not arrested in the aftermath of the incident.
I'm surprised he didn't seem to hear the bus coming. Having said that, he'd probably not have had time to move away from danger and may well have suffered a more serious injury if he'd turned round to see what was coming. Lucky guy!
The young lad who was walking on the other side of the road, he reacts to the bus coming round the corner and sees in horror the man being run over, and as the bus moves out of shot, you see him hold his head, not knowing what to expect. He eventually comes over to help him and you seem him phoning emergency services. But as for this guy. He is a very lucky.

I have travelled on that bus route and it seems to be traveling faster than it normally dose,

The Reading buses are very quiet, some are Hybrid electric.

Yes that could well explain his lack of awareness. Ever since those electric mobility scooters have become common I've been thinking that the lack of noise associated with electric vehicles could be a big problem in terms of road safety. Hearing is so very important to our safety in all sorts of ways but short of making electric vehicles generate some form of artificial noise I have no idea how we can get around this problem.
