I just love hearing all those folk banging on about not doing business with Saudi Arabia. Have they thought it through? Our trade with SA isn't just arms - IIRC that is only about 20% of the total. What do these people think about buying Saudi oil to fuel their cars and light/heat their homes? Should we stop that too because if we don't surely they can use the resulting revenue to buy arms from somewhere else can't they? Where do they suggest we should buy our oil from? Which credible and reliable oil producing regimes would be acceptable to these people do you reckon?
Maybe we should also stop buying Chinese goods too because they've got plenty of previous when it comes to human rights abuses. When we've stopped buying Saudi oil maybe we should stop buying all those Chinese solar panels that make us feel a bit less guilty about the damage we're doing to the environment buy burning all that Saudi oil. How about all that Chinese made IT kit too - the very stuff these people use to spread their disapproval on social media for example? Ban it?
