My Linksys E3200 won't work in India?!?!

Hey folks,

Long time no post! My family and I have moved to India for two years with work and I've brought out most of my IT kit with me to save on buying while here (and nowhere to store it all!)

We've signed up to a FTTH broadband connection which for some reason only likes to work when connected directly to my laptop!

This is both puzzling and infuriating as I'm spending far too long trying to resolve what should be a straightforward connection.

The Linksys E3200 worked beautifully with my Virgin Superhub before we left... the superhub was relegated to simple modem mode, an ethernet cable to the router and both wireless and wired connections were available.

The FTTH modem is a AONT-100C by Alphion. In my mind this should simply be outputting (for want of a better term) a LAN signal... and indeed it does when connected to my laptop. Plug it into the E3200's yellow 'Internet' port and it doesn't matter if I use a wired or a wireless connection I cannot get the data to pass through the router.

The router therefore feels like it is the source of the problem. I've reset the router back to factory settings and still no joy on either connection type.

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

If you login to the router what does it report?

Thanks for the response. At the risk of sounding like a newb...In what respect?

I've taken some screen grabs to show what I see on what I think are pertinent pages

It's also worth mentioning that these screen grabs are with the router disconnected from the modem.

Please let me know if I've misunderstood your question.

Re: My Linksys E3200 won't work in India?!?!

Probably locked to the laptop MAC.. See if the router can spoof the same MAC as the laptop

Re: My Linksys E3200 won't work in India?!?!

Thanks for the suggestion Kymmy.

I tried the MAC addresses for both the wired and wireless connections and neither worked.

Looks like I'll be needing a new wireless router at this rate... just can't see why a freshly reset router doesn't work in either wired or wireless modes... I mean... the cable from the modem is just a pipeful of data right? It's not interrogating what's at the end of the cable to determine if it's OK to send the data... or is it?

Re: My Linksys E3200 won't work in India?!?!

Did you use Linksys connect to set up the router again after the factory reset?

Chances are your FTTH connection uses a different protocol to VM for the connection.

Bingo! And don't I feel stupid! Having lost the CD in the move I assumed it would work straight off the bat!

Downloaded the Linksys Connect software and we're straight in. Thank you so much!
