I'm hoping so. I've placed my pre order, and noticed they are charging £100 VAT

Microsoft just released something about turning off the Kinect for privacy so I'm slightly interested again.

Yup. Neither MS nor Sony has revealed any pricing information, or even a release date. Any prices seen on Amazon or Shopto etc. will purely be placeholder prices.
My guesstimate is ~£299-£349 for each.
I can't see either of them repeating Sony's mistake with the PS3 launch price... At least I hope not.
There was a rumour before the reveal that MS would offer two price points: normal, or subsidised with some sort of subscription. A later rumour said that this was scrapped, perhaps as they realised they didn't need the subsidised version to make it attractive?

I think loss leader and £299 the hardware can be priced seeing as they are similar to PC hardware and are AMD APUs which are cheap anyway the only thing that would make this console cost more is development costs of course

I still think the box and the Kinect look ugly as hell. In my house it will be a dust magnet, with all those grooves.
