A "next gen games console" and all they could show was crap like very vague tech specs, TV capabilities that likely will only be useful for those in the US and CGI scenes instead of gameplay for the games. Bit of a waste of time.

The last thing that looked like that in my lounge was chucked on a skip about 15 years ago. This folks, is what happens when you cobble something together on the cheap on the back of a fag packet but try to make out that it's going to take over the world (without GDDR5).
Let's all wave our arms around in front of the tv while watching NFL yay!

I take it because it has wi fi direct, that means it will connect to a router wirelessly too, apart from being just for the controller communication?

Because it has WiFi Direct you can send music/video/photo to it directly (from a phone, laptop, etc) rather than it first going through the router. All WiFi devices can connect to a router.
