a colleague of mine was in a motorcycle accident, they thought they may have to amuptate his leg, but the clever doctors/surgeons here in England have got the bones to grow together and become one again, by stretching the 2 separate pieces over time, in a frame round his leg.

admitedly, it's not a head, but still amazing stuff

This report is describing something that is impossible at this time. I'm perplexed as to why they would be saying this
edit: unless his spinal cord wasn't severed, just his spinal ligaments ....
