Premier Sports
i found this on Premier Sports Website Today it can be found under the Cable Update section
As you may be aware, extensive negotiations have been taking place over the past 6 weeks regarding placement of the Premier Sports channel on the Virgin Media television network. These discussions have followed a number of your complaints as to the channels availability on the Sky platform but not on cable.
Whilst Virgin Media acknowledges Premier Sports as a growing sports channel and the exclusive provider of NHL, NASCAR, Blue Square Premier, NRL and Championship Rugby League, Virgin do not believe the channel currently merits a position within any of its current TV packages (M+, L or XL), as presently afforded to other sports channels.
Premier Sports is committed to showcasing its current and growing sports content to the widest possible available audience and regrets Virgin’s decision in this regard. We will continue to offer our channel to our satellite customers and remain at all times open to re-entering discussions with Virgin at any stage should their position change.

Virgin offered Premier Sports the chance to be a premium offering, the same as on satellite, but they refused and want to be in the XL pack.

Still very dissappointing for the Virgin viewer as there are quite a few who would have liked to have this channel even if they had to pay more to get it DF.

VM would have to give PS part of the XL package fee.

And others who want HD and other channels would be unhappy with paying for more sport on XL. The XL pack has loads of sports already too.

Well lets hope that further HD and other channels arrive soon as some of the natives are becoming restless especially with the forthcoming April price rise in the TV XL pack.

Re: Premier Sports
BoxNation and Sky Sports are standalone prenium channels and for non XL customers so is ESPN, so if Premier Sports has sense, both their channels should be standalone prenium channels!!!
We should get it since a lot of VM customers are compaining about price rises!

There'd be a hell of a lot more complaints about a forced price rise to pay for a minority sports channel. I love nhl but I'm with Virgin on this one-Premier Sports simply doesn't have the demand to warrant inclusion on one of it's channel packs. They pay Sky for their slot with them-if they were, as they say, really committed to reaching the widest audience possible, then Premier would be free on that platform. But it isn't.

Obviously Premier sports dont have any sense, they've already lost the revenue stream for the past 12 months. Possibly they have their pricing model wrong and cant sustain the Sky model and need to change, hence why they're trying to rip VM off to subsidise the bad model already used
