O/S Hardware Optimizing
Can anyone tell me how does windows optimize itself for hardware if its changed after installation.
For example when i installed windows on this PC it had just 8GB Ram and i've upgraded it to 16 so when it optimized during installation it was done for 8GB, is there anything i can do to further optimize now for 16GB?
Thanks.

No there's nothing else you need to do.

Re: O/S Hardware Optimizing
As soon as you turn on after installing new RAM, your system will recognise it and do the necessary

Re: O/S Hardware Optimizing
Most of the time Windoze will sort stuff out itself. There are occasions when the OS can do undesirable things by default. One that comes to mind is scanning inserted media for playable content and then offering you applications to open said content, with a big drive this can take a considerable amount of time and usually you will know what is on the drive and the application that you wish to use. Turning this properly off requires a registry tweak though.

If you'd answered his question about RAM by telling him what a dog's fart smells like it wouldn't have been any less irrelevant

If you had read and understood the OPs post he was asking a general hardware question and then using a RAM change as an example.

It doesn't optimize anything during installation.

Re: O/S Hardware Optimizing
If you put the RAM in the wrong slots you can sometimes end up with a less than optimal configuration, but you can read the mother board manual for the specific advice.
Windows has very little control over the RAM, all it has the the total amount it has access to, which it will adapt to on boot.

Re: O/S Hardware Optimizing
No real tweaking needed these days...
Yes, ensure that you set the memory in a dual channel configuration if possible - consult the manual for which sockets need to be paired - though they are often different colours as a guide.
Eliminating the pagefile with larger RAM is controversial - personally I'd leave it on system managed ... in the old days, fixed size was better, but Windows seems to be pretty good at not thrashing the size.
