Life means life is not a punishment that the libs like to see given out, they much prefer slapped hand means slapped hand. Carry on
The life sentence given out these days is weak and ineffective, it no longer a deterrent.

“The murder of a police officer is a particularly appalling crime” (15 May 2013)
Home Secretary Theresa May has today called for ‘whole-life’ sentences for murdering a police officer.
Currently, under schedule 21 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, sentencing for the murder of a police or prison officer in the course of duty starts at 30 years before mitigating and aggravating factors are taken into account.
However, once these circumstances are factored in, the minimum sentence can be adjusted to anything, hence a whole-life order can be issued in certain cases if there are strong aggravating reasons for doing so.
If the starting point for police officer murder changes to a whole-life order as the Government intends, it will become the standard for this type of offence. Of course, it’s important to remember that if mitigating circumstances apply, offenders could still be sentenced to less time.
