Virgin Slow Speeds Again

I'm rather angry at virgin. Since before APRIL my area has been over subscribed and apparently they are fixing it, yet my date keeps getting pushed back. CF Original post - http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...ow-speeds.html

First I was told May, Then June, now wait for it late August!
Baring in mind since April I have not been able to watch netflix in the evening without quality loss or buffering etc. Browsing is painful, which makes online gaming impossible.

I was on a 60mb connection and upgraded to their 100mb over the weekend but yer same old same old in the evening. (Even if it was 60mb)

I can really feel the speeds!

I was in contact with one of their support team on their own forums, who confirmed its the same fault as back in April (F003259558), All I'm told is call up customer service quote the fault and get a discount on the bill.
But i just want it fixed you know! It's been long enough!

As lets face it phone support in India have no bloody idea or clue. Chances are they would try and send someone to my house to fix this, or just miss the fault ref entirely and make me do Tier 1 support stuff.
It's annoying as I like to unwind in the evening by watching netflix and chilling out with a cuppa, well it's impossible to do so!

It seems all they care about is cramming as many people on their network and screwing all the loyal customers and then taking an age to fix anything, as the average Joe would not phone up and complain.

Yeah that's the problem with VM they don't upgrade the network in certain area's quick enough to match the demand all you can do is keep complaining but VM won't ever be the quickest at fixing over-subscription.

You're not wrong, but I don't think it's fair to lay the blame entirely on Virgin. Some areas are just genuinely more difficult to upgrade, either due to the existing infrastructure (or lack thereof), council's red tape, or any number of reasons.

I agree that they should be more proactive in those areas, though.

Re: Virgin Slow Speeds Again

It's really unusable. It's annoying as this has been ongoing since April but IMO it's been going on way before that.
They keep bashing out speed upgrades for free but what's the point if the infrastructure is shocking!

It's like have a Ferrari in the day but in the evening here's a clapped out skoda running on flats with a full boot.

It seems to be the whole area and not just specific street cabs as my mate on the other wide of town has the same issue.

Re: Virgin Slow Speeds Again

I can confirm Leicester network is still in poor shape.

Was round a friend's house last night and he told me VM been poor lately, he is on the 50mbit package with a superhub 2 and was getting 15-20mbit on speedtests whilst I was there.

He will stay with VM tho as he hates BT with a passion, and refuses to pay line rental.

For what its woth the grass on the other side isnt too green currently, BT wholesale have their own congestion issues, so I am probably going to end up at sky LLU, to avoid both VM and BTw.
