TV start up

I have virgin media cable connected to my Samsung TV
turning TV on with Virgin's remote. screen says 'NO SIGNAL' 'HDMI1' and then suggests 1. 'Check cable connections 7 settings'
2. Press source on TV remote'
The source is correct
When I press HOME on Virgin remote, screen says WAKING UP and TV comes on.
However, sometimes when pressing HOME TV will not start, and only way to get it going is to disconnect cable form TV for a few secs, and re-plugging it
Why does the TV not start up as soon as I turn it on?

Re: TV start up

Sometimes HDMI has strange compatibility problems. Make sure the firmware is up to date on your TV (either update online if it's a connected TV, or check Samsung's website).

When a new user's first post goes to the moderation queue, approving the post puts it on view but doesn't add to the post count, hence zero. Must be a vB bug.

New user posts go to the moderation queue if they come from a non-UK IP or, as in this case, they are incorrectly posted to the "articles and information" knowledge base rather than the discussion forum.

Re: TV start up

I assume that you have programmed the VM remote to operate your TV?

If so it looks like the powerup button activates the TV but not the VM box hence the "no signal" from the HDMI.

Pressing some of the other buttons probably wakes up the VM box (Sometimes).
That could be due to the fact that the recent VM boxes have two levels of shutdown, one is still ready to power up instantly whilst the deeper sleep does a full boot.

You could try unassigning the VM remote and then activate the TV with its own remote and then seeing if the VM remote stops and starts the VM box reliably.
