Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
I am looking for an electric pivoting screwdriver that is magnetic.
Now can u get the actual screwdrivers themselves that are magnetic or do u have to buy the magnetic bits seperately?

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
The screwdriver itself probably won't be magnetic, however some (if not all) use a small "bit holder" which is itself magnetic, and magnetises any bit you use with it.
I'm not sure where you stand when you use the supplied "long bit" type screwdriver bit, but I suspect these aren't magnetic

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
Just stroke the bit with a strong magnet to magnetise it. In one direction only.

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
Yes, yes it is. But it's a magnet in a handy form factor.

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
If you want a really strong magnet, take apart an old 3.5" hard drive!

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
I have a magnet from an old speaker, with string attached it picks up most things.

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
I have a stack of 6 3" ferrite ring magnets from scrapped old B&W box TVs. Demon magnetiser.
Not sure that it's easy to magnetise the super hardened bits though. I use them in a magnetic holder but they themselves seem to stay unmagnetised.

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
Some bits are non-ferrous, so won't magnetise.

Re: Magnetic Pivoting Screwdriver
The whole point of the magnetizer unit I referred to above is that unlike everything else suggested, you can easily demagnetize it again simply by using the other hole.
