the two times I have had SMART failures in the past the hdds have died within 3 days and I was very grateful for the advanced noticed so I could back everything up. Admittedly this was quite a few years ago when I didn't back stuff up as frequently as I do now.

I agree with qasi, S.M.A.R.T. isn't foolproof and can be wrong. Software such as Spinrite, etc, can detect and repair certain S.M.A.R.T. errors up to a point but always best to have a back-up image just in case.

It is no biggy for you to fix stuff like this yourself dude. If you have taken the back of your pc before you'll know what the hdd looks like. If you have got a decent case the bay it is in will be screwless and the thing will just pop out, you can pop a new one it (I can give you a link to order one off amazon) and then it is just a case of popping your windows dvd in and following the on screen prompts. To make it easier, if your pc is up and running now I would make a system image and store it on your external hdd and then when you put your new hdd in you can restore everything back to as it is now and not have to worry about copying all your documents, wallpapers etc back across and configuring all your settings again.
Thanks for this advice. Maybe you can maybe you can sent me that Link Please, I have never had the back of my PC so I have not got a clue, What is a system image ?

Re: Superhub and Four Tech support calls about poor wireless.

it is like a photocopy of your current system state. If you did a fresh install you would need to install windows, all the service packs and updates, your progs and then your files/documents. If you make a system image windows basically makes a copy of everything as it is now and when you put a new hdd in you can then use the windows dvd to install the image instead of the bog standard version. All your progs, documents and settings are still there just as they were before. You want to go into control panels, backup & restore and select "make a system image" on the left. I make one every two weeks and it normally take about an hour and a half. I would have a quick read of this if I were you.

It might sound complicated it but it is very easy and self intuitive. Do you know how big your hdd is atm?
