I can also say that the SH2ac fixes some issues found on the SH2. Until I know more of your environment, stats and how your problems (wireless drop-outs) occur, I could not make a blanket statement that trhe SH2ac will fix whatever is happening to you.
that is my concern too so fingers crossed.

If you're so sure your son is right then why don't you ask him how to do it, after all you say he set up your hub this way in the past...

Re: How do I setup Superhub to receive Wifi only (no ethernet)

Did you manage to get the information you need? Based on what you said I would suggest buying a wired network card... I've run wires around my house and it is much better than any wireless... That said I don't hate any AC devices. If you are worried about cost I would suggest you consider of any of your services are actually AC. As an example this would upgrade done computers for less than a tenner http://m.ebuyer.com/263123 (hope I'm allowed to post that... Sorry if not... I'm not getting anything out of posting that just an example of how cheap upgrading a wired network card is).

My comments are based on my experience and knowledge... Although in the spirit of this thread I do have a degree in computer science and do work as an IT manager so making stuff like this worth of generally my problem. Hope this is helpful.

P.s. Please don't buy any parts for a pic of you are not sure they are the right ones. If in doubt you can always use a USB device which doesn't require much knowledge... Technically USB 2 is too slow for gigabit networking but in practice it is fast enough if you only need to max your broadband connection. USB 3 is fast enough but only any good if your machine supports it.

Re: How do I setup Superhub to receive Wifi only (no ethernet)

Ok - my AC Hub was delivered yesterday foc. I installed it and my son did his thing remotely using 'Teamviewer'. I wanted to watch what he did but he kept sending me text messages which took all my attention sadly.

last night everything seemed ok but that was only 1 night so fingers crossed.

just did a speedtest on my desktop:

and again:

Re: How do I setup Superhub to receive Wifi only (no ethernet)

Seems a bit on the low side considering the service is provisioned at well over 160Mbps and it's 3am, so well off-peak.

Depends if he chose a VM speedtest.net server. For example, I get a lower speed off Namesco London than VM Brentford. Using a VM server validates your local segment, the internet-based sites have more variables in the mix ..

Re: How do I setup Superhub to receive Wifi only (no ethernet)

Namesco's server sucks these days, it often goes through phases of being good and then crappy. It's in a crap phase, though recently in a not working at all phase.

Peer Point has been reasonably consistent since it was implemented, although Amsterdam Softlayer is still the fastest one I know of.
