Alice Gross search: Police find a body in River Brent

Officers recovered the body from the River Brent on Tuesday night, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The 14-year-old's family have been updated on the development. Alice, from Hanwell, was last seen on 28 August.
Formal identification is yet to take place. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course, police said.

News is saying they have found a body, which they believe to be Alice. I hope her family were told before they heard it on the news.
And like den said, not really a shock, but still very sad news. I hope they find the murderer and throw the key away.

The authorities are always very careful to ensure families are informed before anyone else. Sadly it'll be the end of one nightmare and the beginning of another for her loved ones. Let's hope the monster responsible for this is soon caught and punished so that the family can at least have some closure. RIP.

Awful news, although the intensity of the search shows that whatever evidence the police had, led them to believe this was always the likely outcome.

If those (retired) detectives are so clever, I wonder why they didn't catch the killer of the other two girls (as the current suspect for the Alice murder was in prison at the time).
It's amazing how so many retired police have retrospective 20/20 vision......

Obviously in that two weeks he's become an expert on that stretch of water and the way underwater searches are conducted.
Also from the link a murder enquiry starting every time a 14 year old misper doesn't turn up? That's so wrong I don't know where to begin.
