Virgin Media CEO Steve Burch Steps down

Virgin Media have announced today that their Chief Executive, Steve Burch, has quit the company for family and personal reasons. He will return to the United States and will also be stepping away from the Virgin Media board. He has stepped down with immediate effect, a replacement for a new CEO will commence shortly.

The annoucement goes on to say that Neil Berkett, VM’s chief operating officer, will step up to acting CEO, until a replacement can be found.

Commenting on Steve’s decision, Virgin Media’s Chairman, Jim Mooney, said:

“Steve has contributed significantly to the transformation of Virgin Media. Since he joined us, the company has emerged as the UK’s only ‘quad play’ provider and a genuinely distinctive presence in the world of communications and entertainment. On behalf of Virgin Media’s Board of Directors, I thank him for his contribution to our development and wish him every success for the future.”
