ntl Telewest rebrand as Virgin Media

Virgin MediaIt’s V day today as ntl Telewest rebrand to Virgin Media, nearly 10 million customers come together under the same name as the company offers Quadplay. TV, Broadband, Phone and Mobile. All the main ntl and Telewest website portals redirect now to virginmedia.com and channel 999 is showing a special presentation show, featuring radio DJ presenters, JK and Joel.

A new interactive channel, ‘Virgin Central’ is said to be launching on the 20th February – this will feature a selection of episodes from popular hit shows such as The OC, Nip/Tuck, West Wing, Little Britain, Grey’s Anatomy, Alias, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami, at any one time for free.

We have also learned that other channels are in the pipeline.

Virgin Media state that they will be able to offer all four services, TV, Broadband, fixed and mobile telephony products at a better deal than rival competitors, citing that customers will have ‘one source for all their entertainment and communication needs.’

The teaser ads which features voice overs from Hollywood’s famous actress – Uma Thurman, will change tonight to show Uma in person, describing the benefits of being a Virgin Media customer. In one of the ads to be screened tonight, Uma pauses for 10 seconds as she highlights the benefits of TV on demands capabilities of pausing, rewinding and fast forward, just as they would a normal DVD.

Virgin Media hopes Uma’s presence guarantees a captive audience.

Virgin Media customers may have already seen these ads being displayed on channel 999.

James Kydd, Virgin Media’s managing director of marketing, said:

“We are launching the most inspirational and exciting entertainment and communication company in the UK so it’s only fitting that we’ve got the help of an iconic actress. Uma is renowned for slaying the opposition in Kill Bill and we feel that her involvement perfectly reflects Virgin Media’s challenge to its competitors.”

There are several bundles on offer, there is 2 For £20, 3 For £30 and 4 For £40.
