Set recording time

With the TiVo V6 how much time can be allowed before and after recording ?

Does the box allow for TV program over-run ?

As a standard you can split 5 minutes between before and after on every recording.

You can also amend the recording manually, once set, here you can choose from a limited number of options on an individual basis.

If the programme you are recording is live, it a football match, the box prompts you to do this when setting the recording.

I do not think it will automatically detect an overrun, in my experience, although it may if the EPG is changed to reflect the overrun (however, virgin is slow to update it's EPG so I wouldn't rely on this)

Re: Set recording time

It "was" my belief that programs were detected and recorded by a transmitted code, making time irrelevant and over-run non-existent.

Series programs are not always transmitted at the same time as the first episode. So detection by code is the only way to locate them. If code is used for such future programs, it can be used for the first program and time disposed of. There are no cut-offs with code recording.

Sadly the TiVo software doesn't work in this way. It relies on the guide data plus any pre-programmed extensions as Raider999 said. Series episodes being broadcast at different times isn't a problem though, as long as the times for each episode are correct in the guide data.
