One house short of Cable area

Hi

I am hard of hearing and unable to discuss more in depth with the call centre about getting Cable in my house. I still had cable for over 10 years on my other home but wish to move it over here or create a new one.

However I checked and confirm that I am unable to get cable in my home. I check my next-door and they can get full cable services. Doesn't seem right. We live on the same road and only 10 metres from each other. Both of houses was built on same time.

Saw Virgin Engineer and they say I should be getting it. The Green box was only around the corner.

I still prefer cable over ASDL or Infinity from BT. Is there any way I can get cable. If I can't, then only option was to go for BT Infinity and cancel my cable for good.

Re: One house short of Cable area

Hopefully you will have, or be able to get, a direct connection from the ducting in the street. However there seems to be a lot of connections being done by "piggy-backing" onto the next door connection. Don't allow them to do this unless you have your neighbours permission, as situations like this have caused a lot of aggrevation to some posters on this forum.

Re: One house short of Cable area

If you are near the network and they can extend to you for less than £650 construction costs (which isn't a lot by the way) then they will connect you.

Re: One house short of Cable area

Here their reply.. Sadly it too expensive for them, ever my next-doors getting one and I'm not.

Unfortunately for us to make this area serviceable with digital services would be too expensive and would cost more than our current budget allows, so therefore cannot be considered to be upgraded by our infill activity at this time.

As we find new ways of serving areas such as this that are outwith the existing network, we will look at your request further and may be able to include this in build programmes in future years. However at this time, we will not be able to provide cable service to this area.

I appreciate this is not good news, but be assured our team will continue to look for other solutions that may help us achieve this in the future.
