BT Infinity 80Mb

How is BT Infinity changing?

Over the last two years, BT Infinity has changed the face of broadband in the UK by giving our customers speeds four times faster than the UK average. And more and more people can get it every day – we're on track to reach 10 million premises in 2012, and two thirds of the UK by the end of 2014.

BT is now investing even more in the network and we'll shortly be announcing even faster broadband speeds of up to 80 mbps through BT Infinity. The speed that you get will depend on the distance between your home and your cabinet, but our tests are indicating that many of our customers will see a very big difference!

We'll be announcing prices for the new speeds soon. If you want to be the first to hear from us please register below and we'll let you know as soon as we can – or watch this space for updates.

www.evenfaster.bt.com

- I just registered my interest in 80Mb, suggest anyone else interested do the same.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

Or they're using that to gauge how many people are 'interested' and therefore might be interested in paying more for it!

I know I'm not paying more than maybe a couple of quid for it, and that's only for the upload bump.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

It's a business, so they are going to do a bit of market research first.

I shouldn't think for a second that they ever planned to stay at 40mb. But they needed to make sure that it worked before they upgraded.

i think openreach have officially released the 80Mb product today, so does anyone know when any ISP or more importantly BT begin selling this, i've heard dates of 16th in a few places, but no announcements from BT yet.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

http://www.btlife.bt.com/technology-...no-extra-cost/

We’re making BT Infinity even faster – at no extra cost!

We’re turning up the speed dial in the broadband battle with speed increases for BT customers for no extra cost.
If you sign up to BT Infinity 2 from tomorrow (April 12) you’ll benefit from downstream speeds that are roughly double those on offer today – up to 76Mbps rather than up to 38Mbps.
We’re also giving our BT Infinity 1 product a boost by increasing its upstream speed fivefold from up to 1.9Mbps to up to 9.5Mbps.

So it is official, it will be a free upgrade for all customers and option 1 customers will get a boost to up to 10Mb upload speed.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

Done. Thanks Zee. Mybt.com estimates it'll be done by tomorrow - I'll post up a speedtest when it's sorted.

Zee: 63.5 down and 20mb up. I'd expect a little more up but maybe a bit less down. Excited now!

It's a good deal, but people should be aware of this quote:

Quote:
By upgrading, you're agreeing to start a new contract with us: depending on what contract you're on at the moment, it'll either be for 12 or 18 months.
.

So, by upgrading for free, you are tying yourself to BT for another 12 or 18 months.
