The Prisoner 2009

Started yesterday in the US. No date yet for the UK yet. The first episode was OK, although it did seem to be a bit slow paced. I don't know how similar it is to the original version though. Anyone else gunna watch this?

Re: The Prisoner 2009

will give it a go - the original is an absolute classic and will be very hard to match.

Early 2010 is the closest so far.

It was produced with ITV so will be on at some point.

Didn't realise this had started over there.

I'll be watching.

As for the original... a classic, & definitely worth watching

Re: The Prisoner 2009

I'm quite enjoying this. I don't know how it compares to the original (I never really watched the original), but it captures the slightly out of time weirdness of the original perfectly.

What I mean by that is that the original seemed to be set in a nightmarish 1950s holiday camp (with good reason ), and the remake still seems to be set in a nightmarish 1950s holiday camp.

Here we go again, the Americans playing around with a British classic. Look at what they did to "Life on Mars."

Actually, it was produced by ITV, written by the writer of Lark Rise to Candleford and directed by a Londoner..

Re: The Prisoner 2009

I have now seen the first 3 episodes and am really enjoying it. Sir Ian McKellan is great as No2. They haven't messed with too much of it and it has a similar feel to the original.

I even noticed the big white ballon still makes an appearance.

There are only 6 episodes as its just a mini series. IITV already have a site in place for the new series http://www.itv.com/drama/cult/theprisoner/ no airdate just early 2010 at the moment.

Re: The Prisoner 2009

I just watched the first one and thought it was ok - I will now watch the rest

It was indeed nice to see the rover (beach ball) at the end.

Not sure about the two towers thing tho.

Re: The Prisoner 2009

I've watched the first four, but haven't bothered to watch the final two yet. I suppose I should, but it didn't really grab me that much.
