Set up surround sound

Hi there hope u guys can help me. I have a lg plasma with no aux out on back it has opticle port I also have a lg surround sound
Which has no opticle port now I can hear sky tv as surround sound is plugged into back of sky box tru phono ports but is there any way to listen to ps3 sound tru it as that has opticle port and surround sound doesn't ??
Please can anyone help or even understand my problem

Is the optical port on your LG television an output? If it is then you should be able to use an optical to phono convertor,

Then the device feeding the TV via HDMI will send audio into the TV and then out through the convertor to your surround system.
