Broken blackberry Curve 8250

Hi all

My daughter has a blackberry curve 8250 which is broken.

There is no insurance and 10 months left on the contract (Tesco Mobile)

Buying out the contract will cost £150 ............so wondered what options are available to me.

Could I simply use the sim card in a cheap phone for the next 10 months....o

What are repair services like as I have no idea what is wrong.

Could I buy a cheap second hand one on ebay (ie would sim card work) or would that be too risky.

Would appreciate any views.....

Many thanks for your help and time

Mike

the thing is with BB you have extra paid for services which you will not want if you go with a none BB. I have no experience but does no one else have a sim free phone to test the sim in?

from a little google you will need the BiS removing and data added in a none BB phone but it shudl work for calls and text

Re: Broken blackberry Curve 8250

You can use the SIM card in any phone you want (providing it's unlocked or locked to O2/Tesco), obviously a BlackBerry would be better as it has a BlackBerry data plan but you *should* still be able to use the data plan in any phone, I used to have the same phone on O2 and wasn't charged for using data when I put my SIM in another phone, I don't know what Tesco's policy is though. With regards to its brokenness, is it a fault or has your daughter broken it? Either way providing the damage isn't obvious (i.e. cracked screen) then I would call Tesco and get them to send an envelope for you to send it for repair, I have used Tesco repair service before and they don't charge you if the damage is your fault they just send it back unrepaired so it's worth a try.

Try Carphone Warehouse, they usually still repair as long as you're still in contract
