Never have liked anonymous and this has just made me hate them even more. If you like it or not VM have been made to block TPB and this does not help matters.

The block is a waste of time anyway as anyone with half a brain cell knows how to get around it so why have anonymous decided to escalate the issue.

Because they will DDoS any site that gets them more media attention.

"Virgin was the first ISP to block access after the court order was passed at the end of April, in a move that caused outcry among digital activists claiming the order represented the next stage of internet censorship."

Later on it says:

"Under the ruling ISPs Sky, Everything Everywhere, TalkTalk and O2 and Virgin Media must also block access to the site, although at present none have yet done so."

Although it must be pointed out Richard, it's a joke anyway. If you want to, you can and it doesn't require a great amount of nous to do so. It's funny

Re: Virgin Media website taken down[merged]

They aren't "lusers" carl, just a bunch of kids with LOIC or HOIC thinking they can take down websites by multi-packet bombardment, not knowing that their own IP addy is being used... for the non-clever ones.

Either way it is funny that I know the Admins username and password because they haven't protected one key part of the site since, and it was because I was trying to do what the page was supposed to do and ended up at a page showing info >.<

Lets hope they changed the username and password since then

Re: Virgin Media website taken down[merged]

Funny how Anonymous set themselves up as up as some sort of avenging heroes, yet they only ever seem to run DOS attacks, and only on public facing servers for companies.. They never seem to go for the servers of (say) government agencies, or any server that is likely to be well protected.

And what's the point of going after Virgin? All VM have done was comply with the court's orders.

Also, I think the fact that they have done this to any ISP that is blocking The Pirate Bay, while apparently ignoring the fact that the Government is talking about monitoring internet usage for everyone in the country suggests that Anonymous aren't really in it for the good of the people, they are in it more to annoy people and get free ripped off movies.

Re: Virgin Media website taken down[merged]

Yeah I agree Stuart, more likely the kids and teens on 4chan have did this, and anonymous wasn't part of it, despite a post on their twitter page (which can be from anyone - think they have a bot in their IRC channel that will post to twitter via a ctcp command)

they gone after the wrong people I agree, VM just following a court order. Any sane company would do the same.

although I dont condone ddos full stop anyway, so even if it was against the RIAA I wouldnt be clapping my hands.
