Connection charges and premium numbers

Can anyone clarify Virgin's charges re. 0845 etc. numbers? Do they charge a connection charge as well as a high charge per minute?
I use "Say no to 0870" when I can but it doesn't have all the numbers I search for.( I'm on the package which has free UK geographical numbers at all times and I believe there's no connection charge for those calls.)
I looked on virgin Media site but can't find an answer.
Thanks.

www.virginmedia.com/callcosts

A call connection charge of 11.99p per call applies unless otherwise stated

So yes both a connection fee and per minute charge apply

Thanks Ben, but I can't make head or tail of those charts.
Why can't VM make life simple?

Re: Connection charges and premium numbers

This seems clear to me? (from Page 2)

Direct dialled call charges
Call charges are shown in pence per minute but you will be charged for the time you are connected to the network.
Call durations are accurate to plus or minus 1.1 seconds and rounded up to the next minute.
Charge band periods are accurate to within plus or minus one minute.
Call charges are rounded up to the next penny. A call connection charge of 11.99p per call applies unless otherwise stated.

Re: Connection charges and premium numbers

A thirty second 0845 call in the evening will cost you 22p (or in the day will cost you 23p) from 1st October is what seems clear to me.

Or you could go back to Phone M and try this - http://www.firsttelecom.com/other-products/cable-saver.

Re: Connection charges and premium numbers

I've checked and some of the calls (evenings/weekends) are actually more than my package while the rest are a lot cheaper. Once you've got the box hooked up can you choose whether to use it or not per call?
