Keep your number? Sky > VM Migration

Hi all
My brother inlaw is currently with Sky but terminating his contract and switching to VM, he'd like to know if it's possible to keep his existing landline number and migrate that over?

If so how would he go about it?

Thanks

Yes it is. Virgin will arrange it as part of setting up the service. You need to make sure that he hasn't already cancelled the Sky services beforehand as the line needs to be active for the transfer request to work

He's getting the "call to cancel service" 4pm tomorrow from Sky, i'm gonna set up the order online tomorrow morning on VM site so he gets the £60 discount. If i ring VM straight after the order placed online can they do it instantly or won't it be enough time?
Thanks BenMcr for reply.

Re: Keep your number? Sky > VM Migration

can't you do it all over the phone? tell them you can't do the number change online and as a result can't complete the order properly in time online. surely they will see where your coming from and sort it all out over the phone ?

If Sky process an cancellation on the line it will not work

You need to do http://shop.virginmedia.com/help/new-customer-faqs.html

Can I keep my BT number?

Yes. Normally you can. If you'd like to do this, just fill in the 'keeping your own number' bit of the online order form. We'll transfer your number when we install your services and this will close your BT account. You'll receive a final bill from BT around a week after you switch your number to us.

This will also work for Sky, then all you need to cancel with them is TV and/or Broadband. The phoneline MUST remain active until Virgin arrange the transfer
