4G down for a week so far

I have a minuscule amount of monthly mobile data for emergencies (tweeting to radio programmes mainly) on my sim only contract, and received a message yesterday Twitter is now free to use on Virgin 4G. Problem is my 4G (H I think on the display) stopped about a week ago and now only have 3G (E) which often won't even load a page. Besides the great news I will now be able to tweet all day why would my 4G go down as you can't alter it on the options and it's never gone down before, and presumably if it's not working my twitter won't be free to use either.

Will I need to call the operator or is the phone wearing out and no longer able to pick it up? Buying a new phone just for one site isn't a very good economy.

Re: 4G down for a week so far

First try going in to Plane mode, which cuts of all the wifi/4g/3g radio signals, then turn it back on and see if that helps, as it should re-negotiate with your cell tower.

Sometimes a reboot of the phone has better results.

I would have thought whatever was free on 4G would be free on 3G too if all the data is going through the same cell tower anyway.

Thanks, no joy yet. I've also read to start it in safe mode as an app may be jamming it, and is usually something dodgy picked up in the data. So far I haven't worked out how but will try it tomorrow.
