VIP50 Cheaper than VIP30!

This morning I phoned up enquiring about prices to upgrade BB. The guy said VIP30 would be £6.06 more and VIP50 would be £4.06 more (plus £30 for the 30 and no additional charge for 50). Just upgrading the BB from 20 to 30 would be an extra £7.56 (plus £30)! I currently pay the following:

Advance charges £100.99

Goodwill Gesture 10 January £-7.00

Total service charges £93.99

Main services (Provided by Virgin Media Ltd or Virgin Media Payments Ltd) £64.49

Description Date/period Amount

Telephone Line Rental 02 March - 01 April £12.24
Talk Unlimited 02 March - 01 April £8.00
Additional Loyalty Discount 02 March - 01 April £-3.00
Sky Premiums Combo Loyalty Discount 02 March - 01 April £-28.00
Call Wait 02 March - 01 April £2.05
T V Size: X L 02 March - 01 April £25.00
2 Additional V Box 02 March - 01 April £30.00
Add Set Box(es) Discount 02 March - 01 April £-18.80
Broadband Xl(20) 02 March - 01 April £37.00

Premium TV channels (Provided by Virgin Media Entertainment) £36.50
Description Date/period Amount
Skymovie 2,SkyMovie 1,Sports 1, 02 March - 01 April £29.50
Sports 2 £0.00
SkypremHD 02 March - 01 April £7.00.

Can anyone explain why 50 is cheaper, if indeed it is.

Re: VIP50 Cheaper than VIP30!

I think it's probably something to do with the Sky HD Channels as they are included with VIP50.

I think I'll go with VIP30 without Sky HD channels then.

Re: VIP50 Cheaper than VIP30!

Ignoring Sky Premium HD channels for now, I pay £93.99 as present. From April it will be £97.54 (Add £1 for XL TV, £1.80 for 2 extra boxes and 75p for line rental). VIP30 would be £104.10 (£95.55 plus £2.05 Call waiting plus £6.50 for extra box), VIP50 would be £109.10 (£100.55 plus the £8.55 mentioned). So £7.56 more for VIP30 and £12.56 for VIP50. I don't understand where the £6.06 and £4.06 increases come from. Also what would be the cost just to change from 20 to 30 for the broadband?

Re: VIP50 Cheaper than VIP30!

I've decided to go with Tivo now. Can I swap the V+ box in the lounge with a V box in the bedroom then swap the V box for Tivo? If so then I'll go with VIP30 and save, after the initial outlay for the box, £3.50 per month (£6.50 for the V Box less £3 for the Tivo).

Re: VIP50 Cheaper than VIP30!

I don't get how your paying what you are. If your on VIP, why are you paying £5.60 per box and not £10? Your paying £8 less than me for exactly the same package but you have 3 boxes instead of 2.

When are VM supposedly revamping the billing system?

That wouldn't work. You still pay the £5.60 as that's an additional box fee, and then you would pay £3 on top of that if you are having TiVo as the additional STB

On VIP everyone pays £5.60 for the additional V Box. That's the £15 - £9.40 discount calculation.

Sorry I mean I have V+ and 2 V boxes at present. So upstairs I'd want a V+ and V box (covered by the VIP bit) and downstairs the Tivo box. Can I move the V+ box prior to the Tivo install?

Yes but still would do as I said. The £3 fee isn't instead of the £5.60 fee

OK, so in April VIP30 + Tivo will be £105.05 ( £95.55 (VIP) plus £3 (Tivo) plus £6.50 for the extra box).
