Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2017)

Didn't someone say that AMC might be coming to VM?

To maybe add a little weight to this, BT and AMC have announced that it will be available free of charge on the Sky platform from 28/10/17 to 5/11/17.

'Viewers can catch a whole host of series marathons as well as the exclusive UK premiere of the new drama series “Snatch” starring Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter films) on 31st October at 10.00pm and the UK linear television premiere of the acclaimed supernatural drama “Preacher,” starring Dominic Cooper (The History Boys, Mamma Mia!) on 30th October at 9.00pm.'

Looks like they're getting impatient with the low viewing figures, so it could happen...

On the plus side SKY constantly showing villa means our matches won't get moved around so less pain in the backside getting to and from matches.

AMC is not going to be on VM anytime soon and we suspect BTsports will not be in the XL pack either when next deal comes around.

And now you go on about them losing them at subsequent auctions so your assertion that they were going to lose the rights at the next auction is a bit like a chameleon who seems to change his opinions on a regular basis to suit his argument.
No, Den, I have said quite a few times it will either be this round or next.

I would have thought that BT would want to continue the arrangement because it is likely to bring in more VM viewers than would otherwise be the case. They could lose income without such a deal.

As for Virgin, it is certainly a plus in attracting subscribers, who do not pay more than the Full House to get BT Sport. However, it must be fairly expensive for Virgin, and they will be conscious of the fact that that viewers are upset with all these price rises. There is also a resentment that non sports viewers are having to contribute so much towards BT's sports channels.

I see a potential problem if the wholesale deal is not renewed. BT like to handle subscription payments themselves (look at the upset this caused with Sky) and I am not sure that Virgin would allow this either, in which case there would be no BT Sports at all on cable. However, maybe there's a way around it: after all, we pay directly to Netflix without any problems.

Why do you think that, theone? AMC do not benefit from many subscribers, being only on BT, with Sky viewers having to subscribe to BT Sports or their broadband service, and I would have thought that AMC would want to have more of the UK population paying for it.

I suppose that AMC could cease the UK channel's exclusivity when their existing deal with BT expires and make their offerings available through alternative streaming services. I would find that perfectly acceptable.

I'm going on the basis of VM cheesing of BT a while back unless they've now kissed and made up.

Ha, but business is business, theone! Fortunately, Virgin has a better relationship with BT than do Sky!

Well, that's not going to help with the ol' diet! Good food in HD is far too tempting. Quick, get the health police!
