The 'H' series is actually a 2014 model. The 2015 series are the 'J' series TVs.

Saying that, it's good that the 2016 'K' series has all the apps already.

Re: Smart TVs with catch up service apps pre loaded

The smaller one was bought in the middle of last year so makes sense yep. It has most of the apps that the new one does though at least all of the ones we actually use in this house. Cracking picture on both, cant fault them.

One thing that did annoy me a bit was that Samsung seem to be doing away with RCA outputs. Given that the TV in the lounge runs through the hi-fi amp I had to buy a DAC to continue using it.

How do you find the UHD set at rendering an SD source?

Probably as good as it's going to get given the screen size and the fact that some of the older, SD content broadcast on Sky isn't the best quality to begin with. Having said that it's significantly brighter, sharper and more vivid than the TV it replaced which was a 4-5 year old LG 42" thing.

To be honest we've not actually watched any 4K content yet but given that the price wasn't that much more than similar models which were just HD it made sense to future-proof as more UHD content starts making it's way onto Netflix etc.
