High is there a list of Error codes and what they mean for the Scientific atlanta V+ Box

Why are you having an issue if so call in tomorrow after 0800 and they can run diagnostics and connect remotely to your box.

Yes I have an issue But a list of error codes and there defenitions would help so you know when you are getting BS! on the phone

If you ring up and quote an error code then the agent has to input the code and follow a specific flow which tells them what questions to ask and what tools to use and then what the issue actually is and how to go about fixing it by means such as a signal needs sending or a tech booked, and as that is part of a diagnostic tool they are unable to list all faults and outcomes as they change periodically.

The tool does work as I have to use it when taking a digital or telco call as the can only be so many scenarios, but we have no similar tool when dealing with broadband.

8198 is the error code on matser V+ box
and is also the error code on second v+ aswell
all the other error codes have been cleared by CS.

8198 is not an error. Do you actually have a fault with your service?

In between major software updates, there are minor updates to the software.

8198 signifies the latest of these updates. If you look backwards through Technical Stuff, you will see many of these, not always sequential in order.

Please do not suggest that someone you don't know doesn't know the answer to something just because the answer is different than what you want to hear.

8198 is not an error and if you are getting an engineer out on the back of that, you are wasting his time.

Now, what is your issue, as has been asked several times in this thread?

OK I asked for that one

The Box looses video output for approx 5 second at a time this can happen anywhere between 1 - 5 times a Day whether connected via scart or HDMI.
The Audio remains on but when the video comes back it triggers the telly notifying me that a signal has been found etc etc.

This fault can also occur when watching a previously recorded program, if you pause or rewind all is then OK as the signal from the box resumes.

I have had this fault for 4 years and have had 5 replacement SA V+ Boxes in that time for various reasons including this one.
I have witnessed this also at two friends houses also running SA V+ boxes.

I have not requested the engineer I was told that Both My boxes need to be looked at
and Both Boxes have now had their error code logs reset so the code I have listed is no the only code beside 170 access notification and 18 power cycle reboot and 23 TDT received 3 days later also followed by another 8198.

OK Please read your 5 first posts and realise how poor your attitude was to all that have tried to help you on here. I wish you well in getting your issue fixed. If it is as frequent as you suggest then any attending engineer should be able to understand the situation.

All of those are normal. Whatever the fault is, it isn't causing error codes to be logged.

It's an interesting fault though. Not one I've heard of before. As your friends also have it, I wonder whether it's a regional problem. Whereabouts are you?

Indeed It has happened 3 times so far Today and there are no new errors recorded.

I had 4 reboots on saturday afternoon which disturbed my viewing.
Faults as follows:

Time: 15:14 (23) Reboot- TDT received

Time: 15:31 (8198)

Time: 17:15 (23) Reboot- TDT received

Time: 17:31 (8198)
