Poldark
Lets hope this is just as good as the classic series of the 70's.

Re: Poldark
I don't even remember it, must have had better things to do
I thought it aired much earlier than 1976.

Why a remake/continuation has the Beeb run out of ideas!

Well, it's getting more and more difficult to claim the 1970s were better. I guess you take your chances where you can ...
Personally, I really enjoyed this. And I'm not old enough to remember the previous adaptations, so I'm happy.

The previous adaptation from the 1970s was very good for its day but as l say you cannot please everybody as at the end of the day we all have different views about what is good and not so good.

Thank you for a most useful post I wondered why it seemed a bit unfamiliar as I was muddling it up with the Onedin line. I might try another episode to see if it improves.

I would think it less likely.
Poldark is an adaptation of a series of novels. Adaptations are apt to be repeated, over and over. This is the third time Poldark has been made for TV - ITV had a go about 15 years ago IIRC. The BBC famously commissioned a new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice 15 years after their previous attempt, which itself had followed 13 years after the BBC's original adaptation in 1967. Colin Firth is the third actor to play Mr Darcy for the BBC.
