Re: Cooking with lava?

The past is over. We have memories of it. We don't need to go back. Time moves forward.

The things we had then that we don’t have now…

You know, like

Ten times the infant mortality rate
Shorter life spans
Diptheria, tuberculosis, rickets, polio
Lack of appropriate sanitation, leading to dysentery and typhoid
Child labour
Lead paint
etc., etc…

Was it or do you just remember it as better because you were younger, more care free and healthier, I remember waking up one day and just going to work at Butlins holiday camp, another time just moving to Cornwall for the hell of it and then coming back after finding work and accommodation because my pal got homesick for a girl, big deal you could do it then as a teenager with nothing to keep you in one place, these days, not so much

Mainly because people didn’t have enough to eat, or died off of other causes before dementia became apparent…

Mainly that but I don't think that should be used to detract from the salient point

It's a lot more than that. Your brain basically shuts down over time. Not just memories but forgetting who you are, where you are. Can sometimes lead to forgetting how to speak and not able to swallow or eat. Leading to death usually. A horrible disease where you loose the person twice.

Lost my mum and mum in law to dementia/Alzheimers.

Totally agree - same thing with my mother-in-law…
