So what happens when all Proxy Servers are disabled?

Well

When I surf the web specifying NO PROXIES in browser connection settings, I get the following, never faster than 7MB.

Without Proxy

Overall Average Speed = approx 6628 Kbps, 6.47 Mbps

But when I use most Luton Proxies which is the network seg im using, and especially Luton 12 Proxy I get full speed or close to it.

I would like to know whats gonna happen when the proxy servers are disabled or removed completely?

Especially with 20MB upgrades coming soon, am I gonna get ****e speeds whenever i use HTTP?

Im not too fussed as I use Usenet and Newsgroups most of time.

But if i want to download the odd Linux Iso or MS Service Pack, I would like more than 6MB.

Why is the speed restricted at 6MEG without a proxy and has been like this for years, this certainly isnt Traffic Shaping, as other protocols are fine and other proxies are, is there a way around this?

But they're transparent proxies - you don't need to have anything int he connection tab to still be on one. If you force a proxy and get better speeds it merely means the on eyou've been forced to use is overrun and you've chosen a better proxy.

When they get turned off, the network will crumble. 20Mbps and no proxies is a bad, bad thing.
