Mac OS Sierra

So I've just upgraded to the new Mac OS, and I personally like it, love the fact Siri is now intergrated too. What's everyone else's thoughts on it?

Re: Mac OS Sierra

Well it wasn't a big change mostly small things that I mostly won't bother with.

Re: Mac OS Sierra

I've blocked people from installing this using our MDM solution at work. Multiple potential issues which include Sophos AV not working properly. The fact Siri can be used and the way Apple utilise and store the data, iCloud folder redirection for documents and desktop folders (A huge security no no in a corporate environment, when you need to consider DLP)

Apple despite making solid improvements with the likes of DEP and VPP are still years behind in the enterprise stakes

Thankfully Casper makes my life considerably easier !!!

Looking forward to the new file system though, should make for some interesting changes.

As I understand it, all that pretty much vanishes (apart from third party software having issues) if the machine is bound to some sort of directory system (probably Active Directory in a corporate environment). It's certainly disabled if a user does not sign in to iCloud and is optional if they are. It's also likely that even if you can't now, you will be able to configure or even disable things like online storage using profiles, as most of OSX is configurable using profiles.

I'll be honest, I've yet to investigate DEP and VPP beyond reading some docs on them. While our networks and IT team do apparently have our DEP code, they've yet to get me access.

I've got Sierra on my own personal Macbook. It's a nice upgrade to an already good OS (IMO). While I am confident it will work, I am not currently planning to upgrade either of my work Macs though. We have too much on at work for me to risk one (or both) Macs being put out of action if the install causes problems, so they are staying on El Capitan for the time being, and I'll reconsider upgrading when things have quietened down a little.
